The housing stock tells two stories at once: Victorian-era homes near the river and downtown core, and the newer subdivisions spreading west into Campton Hills and Sugar Grove.
The rugs match that split. Persian room-size pieces sit in the formal living rooms of the older colonials near downtown. Turkish runners line the stair halls of the Victorian homes. Out toward Randall Road, the newer builds tend toward contemporary wool and machine-made area rugs sized to open floor plans.
A conservator, not a carpet cleaner
Our master conservator spent nearly a decade training under conservators whose work served the Louvre, the British Museum, and the State Hermitage collections. Cold-water hand washing, dye stability testing, pH-managed chemistry matched to the specific fibre, flat drying under controlled airflow — these protocols are the foundation of every rug we care for.
Our main workshop is in Skokie — St. Charles rugs are picked up locally, cleaned and restored in that Skokie workshop under the same protocols as every other rug we handle, and returned to you. Every rug is photographed on intake and returned within five to seven business days.

Wool and hand-knotted rugs start at $5–$7 per square foot. Machine-made and synthetic rugs run $$3/sq ft. Antique and museum-quality pieces are quoted individually after a free assessment. All estimates are written and firm before any work begins. Pickup and delivery is always included.
