Why surface cleaning fails on pet urine
Pet urine soaks through the pile, through the foundation, and pools on whatever surface is under the rug — hardwood, carpet, pad. Topical cleaners mask the smell for a few weeks, then the crystals reactivate and the odor returns.
Foundation-level decontamination handles the problem by submerging the rug, applying enzyme pre-treatment to break down uric-acid crystals, and rinsing the foundation clean. It is the only method that addresses the root of the smell.
