About the service
Where are you located and where do you serve?
Our workshop is at 7300 N Lawndale Ave, Skokie, IL 60076. We serve Chicago and the entire North Shore — Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, Evanston, Wilmette, Lake Forest, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Northbrook, Hinsdale, and surrounding suburbs.
Do you pick up and deliver?
Yes. Free insured pickup and delivery on every job. We come to you, and we bring it back. No drop-off required.
How long does rug cleaning take?
Most rugs are returned within 5–7 business days. Repairs and restorations vary by complexity — Bobby will give you a clear timeline with your estimate.
How do I get an estimate?

Cleaning
Can you steam clean Oriental rugs?
No. Steam cleaning — hot-water extraction — can shrink wool fibres, bleed natural dyes, and saturate the rug's foundation. We use cold-water hand washing only.
What types of rugs do you clean?
Persian, Turkish, Moroccan, Chinese, Indian, modern wool, silk, and vintage/antique pieces. If it is hand-knotted or hand-woven, we can clean it.
How much does rug cleaning cost?
Cleaning starts at $95 and is priced per square foot by fibre type. An 8×10 wool rug typically runs $200–$360. All estimates are written and firm before work begins.
Do you clean silk rugs?
Yes. Silk requires specific chemistry and handling. We dye-test every silk piece before washing and use pH-managed solutions appropriate for the fibre.
Repair & restoration
Can moth damage be repaired?
In most cases yes. Our master conservator assesses the foundation first. If the foundation is intact, hand-reweaving can restore the pile. We photograph before and after every repair.
What is the difference between repair and restoration?
Repair addresses specific damage — a tear, fringe loss, a moth area. Restoration is a complete conservation treatment returning an antique or heirloom piece as close to original condition as possible.
How much does repair cost?
Repair starts at $85 and is priced by damage type and area. Extensive reweaving on large antique pieces can run $500+. Bobby will give you a written estimate before any work begins.
Appraisal
Who performs the appraisal?
Bobby Ahmadi — a RICA Certified Appraiser through The RUG Index, the industry's only standardized credentialing body for hand-knotted rug appraisers. Ghorban reviews condition and provenance on antique and museum-grade pieces.
What is RICA certification and why does it matter?
RICA — RUG Index Certified Appraiser — is the credential issued by The RUG Index, the first standardized grading and valuation system for hand-knotted rugs. Often described as "the GIA for hand-knotted rugs," it qualifies appraisers to issue USPAP-compliant reports accepted by all major insurance carriers and admissible in estate and probate court. Is your appraisal accepted by insurance companies?
Yes. Our RICA-backed reports are USPAP-compliant and accepted by all major home insurance carriers, and are court-admissible for estate and probate proceedings.
How much does an appraisal cost?
Appraisals are free. Insurance, estate, pre-sale, and authentication reports are all included at no charge — written report, photographs, and provenance notes.
Custom rugs
How long does a custom rug take?
Typically 16–24 weeks from design approval to delivery. Complex patterns or large sizes may extend to 28 weeks.
What is the minimum size for a custom rug?
We start at 2×3 ft. Most residential commissions are 8×10 or larger.
What is the starting price for a custom rug?
From $3,500 for a 6×9 wool rug. Silk and wool-silk blends start higher. We provide a firm quote before any work begins.
