Biography

A conservator’s hands, trained in the world’s great collections

Ghorban Ahmadi carries a three-generation lineage in Persian rug conservation. Over more than 40 years of hands-on practice, he has worked across the full range of Oriental rug cleaning, repair, restoration, and conservation — from ceremonial silk pieces to room-size antique carpets.

His training brought him alongside conservators whose work served the collections of the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and the Musée du Louvre in Paris — exposure to museum-grade conservation standards that most rug care in North America has never encountered. He holds RICA certification as an appraiser.

Based in Skokie, Illinois, Ghorban is Principal Conservator at Ahmadi Rug Gallery. The same hands that restore museum pieces are available to homeowners, interior designers, and rug dealers across Chicagoland.
